Popular Ghanaian disc jockey, DJ Black also known as African finest DJ , has revealed he asked Mercury Quaye, the owner of the Ghana DJ awards franchise not to nominate him for the 2019 Ghana DJ awards.
The Ghana DJ awards started seven (7) years ago in 2013, where patrons graced the awards for the first time.
DJ Black won the overall best DJ of the year at the maiden edition of the Ghana DJ awards and since then he has been nominated multiple times.
This year, the Ghana DJ awards came off a couple of weeks ago which saw a lot of controversies surrounding it after young sensation, 11 year old Erica Tandoh known popularly as DJ switch won the overall best DJ of the year, becoming the youngest Ghanaian DJ ever to win the ultimate.
When asked by Naa Ashorkor on showbiz A-Z, on Joy FM what he thought about DJ switch winning the award ahead of him and the likes of DJ Vyrusky, DJ Sly, DJ Aroma and DJ MicSmith, he said;
"I have no comment about that, I did not participate or put myself in this year's awards scheme so I can't comment about it".
When further asked why he didn't partake in the awards scheme as he claimed, he responded by saying;
" I told Mercury Quaye not to nominate me this year but I found myself being nominated of which I was surprised. It was a private conversation I had with him not to nominate me this year, that's why I didn't even participate in the awards scheme because I didn't want to be nominated", he concluded.
He further revealed that he doesn't know how he was nominated because he didn't file for any nomination.
Is the credibility of the Ghana DJ awards scheme at stake or it's just one of those controversies surrounding every awards scheme.
