Bukom Banku License Revoked

A decision taken by the Ghana Boxing Association (GBA)'s Disciplinary Committee after a meeting last thursday, November 7, 2019 decided to revoke the professional license of Ghanaian boxer, Brimah Kamako popularly known as Bukom Banku , until further notice.
The GBA's decision to revoke his professional license is as result of breach of contract. Bukom Banku failed to honour a contract he had with Box Office Promotions for a rematch with Bastie Samir, whom he fought in October, 2017.
A source confirmed that the GBA's Disciplinary Committee suspended the boxer's license following a round of hearings which concluded that the former African light heavyweight champion had breached his contract with Box Office Promotions.
Both Bukom Banku and Bastie Samir signed a contract to fight each other in a rematch on June 20, 2018 following a well- publicized cruiserweight bout that Samir overcome Banku with a seventh round TKO at the Bukom Boxing Arena on October 21, 2017. This is Banku's only defeat in his professional career.
As if revoking his license was not enough, he has been ordered to pay an amount of 17,000 Ghana cedis to the CEO of Box Office Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah ; who had paid the said amount as part of the boxer's training allowance and purse. The Box Office Promotions CEO has also been granted a special permission to seek relief from the court if the boxer fails to pay the amount owed.
Over the years, Bukom Banku has won the African Boxing Union ( ABU ) and the WBO African heavyweight titles. He recently stole the headlines again by winning his first bout outside Ghana. He now has a fight record of 30 wins and a loss with 23 wins coming by way of knockout.
